Lincolnwood — Three weeks ago, I quietly hit a 1,460-day streak on Duolingo. That is four straight years of daily language learning.

In that time, I’ve watched the app transform from a simple educational tool into a highly engineered gamification trap. Millions of users grind out matching mini-games to protect their egos on leaderboards, stress over losing their hearts and publicly glorify the day they finally break their streak and escape the anxiety.

Navigating Health and Medical Education with Readability and Comprehensibility via Rigorous Academic Research
